• Individually owned speed boat water taxis are permanently stationed at the main harbour where all boats arrive. Most drivers have their own mobile telephones and you can book in advance by telephone.

• There is no METER system and no official control of tariff. However the taxidrivers of Hydra have formed an Association and agreed on set prices. They also have one phone number that will be answered by whichever taxi driver is free at the time.

• as a "rough" price guide:

a taxi from Hydra to the beach at Vlychos village will cost approx. 2,000 - 3,000drx.

a taxi from Hydra to the beach of Molos will cost approx. 5,000 drx.

a taxi from Hydra to the beach on the Peloponnese mainland will cost approx. 15,000 drx.

a taxi from Hydra to Piraeus will cost approx. 65,000 drx. one way

NB : each taxi can take comfortably up to 10 people. Your fare charters the boat. This means that your fare can cover single occupancy if you wish  and you can refuse to take any other passengers who do not belong to your party, on the boat.

DON'T FORGET!! - when travelling by water-taxi to a remote spot, eg. Molos or Peloponnese beach, it is wise to arrange with the taxi driver a precise time to be collected as there are no telephones at these places to call a taxi.
